Need affordable insulin? Did you know that Walmart sells Novolin Regular human insulin and Novolin N insulin (commonly known as NPH) for under $30 a vial? In most states, you don’t even need a prescription.

There are three insulins available at Walmart for the price of $25 – NPH, Regular, and 70/30 (a mix of the two). NPH was first approved by the FDA in 1950, Regular was approved in 1982, 70/30 in 1989. That means NPH has been around for 66 years, Regular for 33 years, 70/30 for 27 years.

In the case of one losing insurance or not being able to afford or find insulin, these cheaper Walmart insulin’s are far better than not taking insulin at all and risking diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

Call your local Walmart Pharmacy and speak with the pharmacist to see if this is right for you.
